We are a local business to NoVA serving Great Falls, Herndon, Reston, and Sterling for over ten years! We strive to be personal while remaining professional, which is why we have maintained long-lasting connections with our clients and their pets. We utilize the technology of Scout™ for a streamlined experience including easy scheduling, GPS tracking, and a report card with photos. We ask that you download the Scout™ app for iOS or Android once receiving your confirmation email.*Earlier hours on a case by case basis, such as time-sensitive medication. Extended late-day hours depend on my closing schedule at my second job.

About The People

Saoirse (pronounced "seer-sha") is the owner and main animal caretaker of Dog Star. They are experienced with domestic and exotic animals alike and have cared for many different species from dogs and cats to reptiles and birds. Caring for animals isn't just a 'job' to them, it is a passion and a livelihood. Their personal pet family includes a rescue Thoroughbred, four Budgerigar Parakeets, and a Green-Cheek Conure.

Services and Rates

'Meet & Greet' consultations are always complimentary. I meet you and your pets at your home and discuss needs, times, etc. If you decide to move forward with me, I will require your email address in order to send you a confirmation email which you can use to download the Scout app.

Dog Walks

Dogs, much like us, need mental stimulation, physical exercise, and the occasional bathroom break. A daytime walk can meet all of those needs! I am currently only taking daily M-F walks.

Certain conditions can be dangerous for people and dogs alike. For the prevention of heat stroke, paw burns, and hypothermia, we do not walk longer than 15 minutes if the temperature is above 85°F or below 32°F.

Drop Ins

Non-canine pets need love and care, too! Drop-in visits for care and love are available for cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and various other small pets.

Our drop-in service includes one-on-one time with your pet (if they are friendly), feeding, water refresh, and litter box/bedding change.

Overnights

Whether you need to be away for a business trip, vacation, or emergency, we are here! Your pet will maintain their normal schedule and have regular companionship. Be aware that daytime availability may be limited due to our daily walk and second job schedules. I do my utmost to spend as much time at home with your pet as possible.

Taxi Services

If you are unable to bring your pet to or from an appointment (vet, groomer, etc.), we have you covered. Let us know when and where, and we'll get them there!

Saoirse is always so sweet with our shy and high maintenance pup! She was always patient to make sure our pup was warming up to her and mindful of when our pup just didn't feel like going on a walk on a rainy or very cold day and would communicate that with us. Saoirse is also always very flexible with scheduling and has been able to make even our last minute requests for help work!
